Reuters
are reporting that the dread Islamist sect, Boko Haram was on Wednesday this week, sanctioned
by the United Nations Security Council.
The group was understood to be as an affiliate of al Qaeda and the organization
of al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), by the United Nations.
The report
has it that the leader of the group Abubakar Shekau and the head of the faction of the
group Ansaru will be banned from international
travels and their assets will be frozen under the U.N. Al-Qaeda sanctions list.
It was
gathered that the sanction was delayed for two weeks because Russia placed a
“technical hold” on the designations for more time to review the listings, but
diplomats lifted the ban.
