The Governor of Kano state Rabiu Kwankwaso
has explained that the appointment of an Emir is not a political issue and
therefore, should not be politicized. He stated this at the turbaning ceremony
of former CBN Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi in Kano today.
In his words: “The appointment of an emir is not a political issue. It is
unfortunate that some enemies of Kano State attempted to politicise this
process".
Meanwhile, according to sources, as an Emir of the
northern city of Kano, HRH Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has become the second-highest
Islamic figure in Nigeria after the Sultan of Sokoto, with his turban ceremony
today. Emir Sanusi replaced Ado Bayero, who died on June 6.
