According to Biblical scholars
and some historians, it is an indubitable fact that the IGBOS are descendants of the Jews. In the, " Sun news
publishing, March 28, 2004", Noam Katz, Israeli envoy to Nigeria said, "It's
possible and certain that IGBOS are descended from the Jews". This is so
because of what the IGBOS and the Jews have in common in their culture and
tradition, for instance, the issue of circumcising a child after eight days,
naming ceremony of a child by the oldest man in the family, kindred or clan,
isolation of a woman observing her menses etc....
Sequel to the above, both the
Jews and the IGBOS have in common, " the pull him Down syndrome",
"the habit of preferring a foreigner and rejecting their own
kinsmen", "shedding the blood of their own
brothers/sisters",......no matter whose ox is gored, as in the case of Our
Lord Jesus Christ. No wonder, our Lord Jesus pleaded with the father, please,
forgive them, for they know not what they are doing, also, in another version
of the scriptures, He said, " A prophet in is only despised among his
kinsmen and in his father’s house". No wonder then Prof. Jude Uwalaka has
this to say...." The IGBOS seem to concentrate their negativity on their
fellow IGBOS as individuals or groups, seen at different times in the ferocious
and irrational rivalry one notices among individuals and groups in Igbo land".
He continues to say that, "in
this respect, one notices that some IGBOS have the habit of scheming one
another. They eye one another's job, position and interest and ready to do
anything to oust the other. There's that "pull him Down syndrome or knock
him down and March on his " head" so that he does not progress at
times to the interest of a non-Igbo. This could be done via rumour mongering,
character assassination, false accusations and blackmails and at the extreme,
blood letting......these have created internal feuds, tensions, and
disagreements that have made Igbo cohesion and unity difficult and rendered her
politically ineffective and impotent"
Having said that, let me say
something about the present day Nigeria and her dirty politics vis a vis the
position of the Igbo man in the present catastrophic political sphere. Though,
we have about six Geo-political zones in Nigeria, but, permit me to use the
three major tribes of Nigeria, namely, Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba, to avoid the
humdrum use of these zones. Here, the Igbo man includes the man from Calabar,
Akwa Ibom, Rivers state, Bayelsa state etc.
Since after the era of Nnamdi
azikiwe, Aguiyi Ironsi, Odumegwu Ojukwu, to mention but a few, it's like the
Igbo man has no hope again in Nigeria judging by the trend of events. The
power, for decades now moves from Yoruba to Hausa and Vice Versa, leaving the
IGBO Man in his parochial state. The above mentioned were the few IGBOS who
fought "tooth and nail" to restore the dignity of the Igbo man. Their
exit has created a very big vacuum in the political life of the IGBOS.
Hence in today's Nigeria where
the IGBOS have been a politically endangered specie, to continue in this
politics of selfish interest, of survival of the fittest, of being
"hewers" of wood and "drawers" of water, of being bag
carries, personal secretaries, shoe shiners, propagandists, political
coordinators and campaign manager of other non-Igbo political leaders for personal
gain to the detriment and sabotage of legitimate Igbo aspirations is
fratricidal and treacherous.
This attitude drags the Igbo
reputation to the mud as we see in the insulting jokes which present the IGBOS
as a people whom money drives mad, a people whose appetite for money is
infinite. I was really ashamed of myself, when, immediately INEC declared GMB
as the winner of the just concluded presidential election, a Yoruba woman said,
"Yes! Let the IGBOS concentrate on their trading and leave politics and
the presidency to other Nigerians"
Mrs. Sarah Jibril, a Northern
woman and presidential candidate of one of the political parties in the 2003
elections commenting on the attitude of many IGBOS and their leaders lamented, "politically,
I find it painful that a lot of Igbo leaders have become vote contractors. They
collect money and sell their votes. So, when the voted get into power, they
feel they owe them nothing" (the struggle for an inclusive Nigeria: p36).
GEJ, people have been commending
you for being a true Democrat, a true statesman, a man of peace, someone, who
didn't want any shedding of blood etc, therefore, you conceded defeat, though,
to the detriment of the IGBOS. In one of your comments you said, "neither
my ambition, nor the ambition of any politician is worth the blood of any
Nigerian, also you said, "I'm really ready to serve, but not desperate to
serve...that's what keeps me going ". Before even the last result was
announced, you called GMB to congratulate him. This is some, who, after falling
in 2011 said,"I'll make GoodLucks government ungovernable, there'll be
bloodshed in 2015 if..., declaring war on BH means declaring war on the whole
Notherners, and a lot of other TREASONABLE FELONIES he committed and because,
he was a "sacred cow", nothing was done. Thanks be to God that his
WAEC certificate is now found and now after the election, he has masters degree
in his profile.... I don't want to mention the hundreds of thousands of
children under ten years and those imported from outside the western and Northern
Nigeria to cast their votes, and here we are coming to fight corruption. What
"a jiggery pokery" in the Nigerian politics? Oh my God, this skeleton
called Nigeria!!!!
In the cover page of the SUN
newspaper of Friday 3rd of April 2015(Good Friday), it says Rev. Fr. Mbaka is
vindicated. But, I'm asking how and why? Before, his controversial and
contradictory New year message, Dame patience Jonathan visited the Adoration
ground, a programme I watched later @ AIT. What happened to the earlier
prophesy when there were eulogies for Good Luck via his wife, the holy oil was
robbed on her palms and the white doves (symbol of the Holy Spirit) were given
to her which flew away later? And can a Yoruba pastor or Hausa Immam say such
to their leaders? Anyway, let me not doubt the authenticity as well as the
efficacy of the prophet and his prophecy because of my status.
Ndi Igbo, because of our own
idiosyncrasy, we have now become the architects of our own misfortune. It's now
crystal clear that we are going to " reap what we sow". To my
greatest chagrin, many IGBOS have individually and collectively visited and
congratulated GMB including Eze Ndi Igbo in Ikeja and many others.
But just yesterday, the Ohaneze
Ndi Igbo sent delegates to The Oba of Lagos who threatened that the IGBOS will
be dealt with, that, they will perish in the lagoon ,if they fail to vote for
the APC governorship candidate of Lagos state. Why protesting, what a
contradiction? It's too early please, Change has come. I seriously commend the
non-IGBOS, Kayode, Fayoshe and others who fraught the fight of the Igbo man. I
equally say "kudos" to Chibuike Amechi, Charles Soludo, Rochas
Okorocha etc who betrayed GEJ.
GEJ, finally, I thank Sambo, Mark
, Mu'azu Your PDP chairman and all the members of your cabinet, etc whom you
gave out everything for, but, they couldn't deliver you even in their own
states.. My happiness is that all the defected members of APC are from PDP, so
we shall see the change sooner or later.... GEJ,"you are GOOD LUCK and you
have PATIENCE "Libera nos Domine!!
