It was
celebration galore last week in the University of Port Harcourt as Nursing
students celebrated their Health Week in a mind blowing manner. One would have thought that
these Nightingale baes and gents would have concentrated on the medical and
health aspects of life as suggested by their theme, but they pushed the stuff
beyond the boundaries of the Nursing profession and I think they deserve our
kudos....
The theme
of the NUNSA (UNIPORT) HEALTH WEEK was: NURSING PROFESSION AND THE
SOCIETY: 'Unethical & Unprofessional Practices'. It was a weeklong
fun filled event which attracted the attention of members of the university community...
including yours truly. Lol!
It
started on Monday with a sensitization rally and awareness campaign...Tuesday
was symposium/seminar. Wednesday witnessed an outreach to Port Harcourt
children's home Borokiri in partnership with NursingWorldNigeria.com, a popular
Health oriented online news portal as part of their humanitarian services.
Thursday was their cultural day/NUNSA HUNTS...done in a grand style as NUNSA
hunt in form of an ultimate search was brought into Uniport for the first time
in partnership with Airtel. Omo! You need to see these Nursing students in a
different look. Lol! Friday night was their dinner\award night with attendance
of students and invited in and outside the University environment.

The
ladies graced the event on their Dinner gowns while the few guys in the
department tried to shine one another with the latest tuxedo suit in town. 'I
observed all from my little as man wey like gossip'...Lol! Now you can
understand why I said the health week witnessed pomp and pageantry. Kudos to
the students for the annual outing a great one.
