The Court of Appeal
sitting in Abuja has nullified the election of Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa
Ibom state. This contradicts the earlier report by some media outfits which stated
that the court upheld the earlier judgment of the Akwa-Ibom State Governorship
election petition tribunal which nullified the elections in the 18 out of the
32 Local Government Areas in the state.
It would be
recalled that the PDP Governorship candidate in the (now nullified) election, Emmanuel
Udom who's also the sitting Governor of the state had approached the appellate
court seeking for a nullification of the ruling of the election petition
tribunal in the April 11 governorship poll.
The court ordered for a fresh election in 90 days.
