"President Buhari should Hit the ground running...." Esema Aguse Writes on Buhari's Globetrotting & Foreign Interviews.

President Buhari, for reasons I can only suspect, preferred to talk to Nigerians from CNN, Al Jazeera, and Washington Post.

But his handlers fail to recognise that, for all the advantage pronounced presidential presence on foreign media attracts, two issues must precipitate: one, the Nigerian talktivesness, our readiness to talk about everything at every opportunity on all avenues, online, interviews, beer parlous; and two, the consistent drive for credibility of foreign media.

One after the other, as Nigerians yell their economic situation, the once-good-for-Buhari foreign media are, to keep to the demand of credibility and refuse to admit to an evident publicity lobbying before the general election of 2015, are questioning the preparedness and plans of Mr President ten long months into his four-year-term.

The Economist and Financial Times are the first to wonder at the wisdom of Buhari's incessant travels at a time there are no dollars to import raw materials for baby formulas and drugs or pay tuition for Nigerian students overseas.

If within the next few months of the passage of the 2016 budget, Buhari doesn't hit the ground running across several economic sectors, those two stands, the Nigerian tongue an finger, and foreign media, would be sufficient drivers to a Buhari's forever goodbye.
