Recently, the blogshpere was agog
with the news of popular singer Timaya who was allegedly involved in a rape related
issue. Trust Nigerian bloggers, the news obviously generated a lot of traffics
and they smiled to the banks hoping for another issue of that nature. Lol!
The breaking news on every Nigerian
blog was that a mysterious lady in the United States of America has accused
Nigerian singer, Timaya of allegedly raping her during one of his visits to the
USA. The mysterious lady in a series of alleged Instagram chats with the ‘Ukwu’
crooner accused him of having sexual intercourse with her without her consent....
Anyway, I am not really
interested in reviewing the case, of course, it’s none of my business as they
say, but even as we try to let the sleeping dog to lie, here are some of the
matters arising from that issue.
The alleged rape victim, who
accused Nigerian singer, Timaya of raping her in Atlanta, U.S, has released a song.
Yah! According to reports, the lady, who has been identified by some web
masters as Shella B, took the opportunity of the one day fame to bring back to
public domain her previously released single entitled #1. Notably, the song was
re-introduced to the public domain hours after the rape allegation went viral.
Little wonder, my friend described
the entire episode as publicity stunt. To think that the said Lady Shella would
re-introduce the track, which features Kiddominant, the producer of Orezi's hit
single, Rihanna, a song that was reportedly recorded and produced by
Kiddominant in December 2014 gives credence to the fact that the said lady merely
used the superstar to bring herself back to limelight. Do you observe the
connection?
Again, the issue also re-emphasizes
the plethora of unfaithfulness in marriages/relationships among our
celebrities. This is another perspective worthy of evaluation. Evidently, while
some of the Instagram posts allegedly showed the singer apologizing for his
misdeeds, other posts had him reportedly threatening the mysterious lady, who
seemed all out to ruin him. The lady was said to have claimed in one of her posts
that the only reason she allowed Timaya off the hook was because of his two
kids. It would be recalled that the pop
star Timaya welcomed another baby girl on July 15, 2015 with his longtime
partner and the mother of his first daughter Barbara Nwokolo.
Although, Timaya's event manager,
Prince Oluzor later reached out to the mysterious lady asking her why she
recorded the singer without his knowledge, but the action of the Popular
singer, Timaya who though defended himself saying he neither raped the
mysterious lady nor forced her to have sex with her is condemnable given that his
baby mama just put to bed.
Timaya reportedly admitted in a
chat with popular blogger, Linda Ikeji that it was a consensual sex and the
lady was a blackmailer who wanted to con him off $50K. This is happening a few
days after a fitness trainer, who is married to an On-Air-Personality found
himself in the murky waters of controversy after his ex-girl friend allegedly
got pregnant for him.
Trendy Gist is worried with the
alarming cases of unfaithfulness on the part of celebrities who the cream of
the society look up to as their model. Those who live in glass houses should
not throw stones. Thank God, Timaya’s alleged sexual shenanigan has been laid
to rest, but nothing shows that similar incidences of sexual related cases will
not occur again. This is time to click alright.
