More Cheering News on Dr. Obinna Ebirim’s Selection FOR 2016 MANDELA WASHINGTON FELLOWSHIP

Yesterday, I broke the cheering news on Dr. Obinna Ebirim’s selection for an international recognition (2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship), and so many persons, have already linked up with me requesting to know more about the handsome doctor. Some, especially Bloggers, have also requested for the track record of this young man, detailing the activities that qualified him for such an international recognition. To satisfy the curiosity of many, I have decided to make him our Personality of the Week.  

Again, Trendy Gist has reliably gathered that after the six weeks learning at the various tertiary institutions, Dr. Obinna and all other fellows will converge in Washington DC for a summit where they will meet the president of the United State of America face to face. I will like to join him in that trip, even if it means just carrying his bags…Lol!

Personality of the Week: Dr. Obinna Ebirim

Dr. Obinna is a 30 year old medical doctor, public health specialist and advocate on social media (Malaria and Immunization), YALI Green Champion, global mobilizer for Malaria awareness (2015 Social Media Malaria Heroes Award), former elected SUG executive at University of Port Harcourt (his alma mater), Pioneer Administrative Officer of Catalyst...the rebirth Initiative and Immediate Past Personal Assistant to Imo State Health Commissioner. He is the co-founder of Impact Driven Young Leaders (IDYL) Initiative, member of All Progressive Youth Forum, Content Developer at YALI Network Abuja branch and currently working on an innovative medical data collection device - QuickData.

He is passionate about leadership, public health advocacy, youth development and climate change. He currently work as a Senior Program Officer with DCL consulting for International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC) in Nigeria, supporting the Nigerian government's immunization programs and primary health care system strengthening initiatives. He has previously worked as a medical officer at the Naval Medical Centre Sapele, Delta State and also as a Medical House Officer at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) Rivers State, Nigeria. 

He gives back to the society by volunteering every Saturday to work without pay, as a medical doctor, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama Abuja Sickbay for the poor.

Obinna is a recipient of many awards including Glitz Award Student Activist of the Year 2010, Timiwest Oyins Integrity Award for Innovative Leadership 2011, Association of Resident Doctors UPTH Medical House Officer of the Year 2012/2013. 

Obinna is single, resides in the capital city of Nigeria - Abuja and his hobbies include soccer and internet surfing.
