Vanguard reports that the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar yesterday announced the commencement
of Ramadan. This noble announcement was made after the moon was sighted around.
According to the Chairman of National Moon sighting Committee and Chairman Advisory
Council to the Sultanate, Sambo
Wali, the moon was
sighted in Birnin Kebbi and Gwandu in Kebbi State. Following this development, yesterday marked the beginning of Ramadan and Muslims are expected to begin their fast.
