According to a BBC report, Pele’s son, Edson
Cholbi Nascimento popularly called Edinho has been to 33 years in jail
for money laundering by a judge in Praia Granda, Sao Paulo state of
Brazil.
The report has it that the 43
year old ex-goal keeper was first arrested back in 2005 and he reportedly
served a sentence for drug trafficking offences, in addition to having
links with a notorious drug dealer in the city of Santos. Edson refuted the
charges of money laundering but he admitted that he has issues with drugs.
Sources said the son of international football
legend, Pele was sentenced alongside four others and he is very likely to
appeal the judgment.
