What a Shame! What a Baby Mama? (Adults Only)

Recently, the social media was abuzzed with the gist of a top Beauty Queen, who is ‘reportedly’ expecting a child with an A-list Singer. Ordinarily, one would have expected that such a high profile model who has got to the peak of her modeling career, and who is supposedly a role model to upcoming models, wouldn’t have stooped so low to the extent of picking up that ‘self degrading’, loathsome, repulsive and extremely repugnant title: “Baby Mama”. Yes, I never imagined she would stoop so low. But, the reverse seemed to be the case; and from the look of things, the Baby Mama trend has come to stay....
Although, it may not really make much sense ruffling feathers with celebs by discussing their personal issues here; but to think that this demonic syndrome called Baby Mama is now the reigning practice among our youths especially celebrities is the height of madness! To a point, I began to wonder; for how long are these young ladies going to allow themselves to be 'used and dumped' by these so called male celebs? Just look around sincerely, you can help us compile a litany of hit-makers with Baby Mamas. Oh yes! It is no longer news that: in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and even earlier this year, top male celebs welcomed babies with their baby mamas.
So, you can see that the list is endless. Although, it is not only the celebrities who are having babies before wedlock; but, word on the street now is that celebrities are the people that have put a stamp of endorsement on this trend. It baffles one to observe that some of these male celebrities do not have just one, but two or more females as baby mamas! Put differently, their main responsibility is to impregnate and dump these females and their babies in search of more damsels to brainwash and rubbish their lofty ambitions and dreams in life.
Personally, I call them: “Destiny Destroyers”. That’s what they; and to show that they are just out to destroy the destinies of these females, we learnt that these guys who know very well that they would always want to have sex (and plenty of it sef), usually refuse to use their ‘protective devices’. Why? And the ladies know these too well; but have refused to learn. To a point again, I began to wonder again: why are some of our young women so much interested in having children before walking down the aisle? Ladies answer me. Does it mean that females are becoming anti-marriage? Or has marriage lost it pedigree and standard in their sight and understanding?
I conducted an opinion poll recently on this baby mama stuff, and I was bemoaned and bemused to discover that most of our sisters do not see anything wrong with this devilish trend. Girls Why? You don’t see anything wrong with a celeb, using and dumping you in search of another, in as much as you have a baby with him and he’s footing the bill? Chai! I smell something close to Madness here!
Recently, I visited a friend and together with her sisters, we discussed at length this issue. From our conversation, I discovered that sometimes, these damsels are bamboozled by (what they see as) love and search for fame. In one of the examples they cited, the lady started the whole trash; and from every indications, she was the only one in that relationship; the Beauty Queen kept on disturbing our peace on instagram with the pictures of her supposed bae. But, the young man, never for one day, showed off her own pictures or say anything about been in love with her. Chai! As expected, fans actually warned her to be very careful with the dude, but they were tagged “Bad Belles”. But, when the pregnancy became an issue, trust Nigerian Bloggers and their readers, the level of media backlashes was unprecedented.
I read in one the article by a publicist that for some ladies, not marrying their child’s father is the best parenting decision that they have ever made. But, this is contrary to what our mother’s practiced. According to Mrs. Roseline Anya, in previous generations, women absolve their pregnancy predicament simply by marrying the father; because that generation seemed to be bothered about societal opinions.
In as much as I agree with you my dear readers, that it is not in my place to decide how a lady should live her private life; but I want to refer you to the words of the scripture which says that “marriage is honourable; and a bed undefiled”. It remains to say that baby mama suggests a moment of aberration and ethical repugnancy. According to Mrs. Anya, Baby Mama Syndrome sadly calls into question, the erosion of the process of forming a family as we’ve traditionally come to understand it as being, courtship, marriage, and then babies.
Although, some of them have sometime in the past made it just by the struck of luck, but, one mustn’t be a Baby Mama to get her to the peck of her career or settle down with the man of her choice. It’s pertinent to note that everyone is at liberty to live their lives the way they deem fit; but, my duty here is to try and let ladies also realize that choices bear consequences.
A story was told about a popular entertainer somewhere in Africa, who is famous for having the highest number of Baby Mamas in the music industry. But, when he finally decided to settle down, he picked from the topmost; and I asked myself, what about those ones that threw themselves at him just to bear his surname? A word is enough for the wise!
