Read The Major Reasons Why President Buhari Rejected U.S’s Gay Marriage Proposal

Prior to President Muhammadu Buhar’s visit to the US, there were fears in some quarters that the President may be pressurized by his American counterpart to accept gay marriage which has already been legalized in USA. I am one of those that didn’t see it happening. Reasons? Topic for another.

As if Nigerians already knew what was going to happen, the spokesperson of the President Femi Adeshina revealed that the issue of gay marriage was discussed during Buhari meeting in the US but he rejected the offer.

He explained that President Muhammadu Buhari has told Barrack Obama-led United States of America that he will not sanction gay marriage in Nigeria, stating that ‘sodomy is against the law of the country and abhorrent to our culture’. So these were the two major reasons why the proposal died on arrival

In the words of Mr. Adeshina

“The issue of gay marriage came up here yesterday. PMB was point blank. Sodomy is against the law in Nigeria, and abhorrent to our culture”.
